“An excellent deal” – Brighton backed to complete €35m move for ‘new Huijsen’

Brighton have been in the hunt for Juventus’ Adin Licina and have now been backed to seal a deal for him quickly.

The winger joined the Old Lady from Bayern Munich on a permanent deal earlier this year. After playing some games for the Juve Next Gen side, he was loaned out to Serie B side Cremonese in the summer.

He has done well there, contributing to three goals in seven games in all competitions. Sport Witness have tracked his growth, with Brighton and RB Leipzig in the race to sign the German.

Talk around the nifty attacker is growing, with the Bianconeri backed to make a big sale.

Talent tipped for big things

Journalist Gianni Balzarini spoke about Juve’s squad situation on his Youtube channel. He made it clear that things aren’t looking great as the Old Lady have several issues to address. At the same time, he believes that selling Licina will help the Italian side.

Balzarini praised the 19-year-old – via TuttoJuve: “He started very well, now he too has been a little overwhelmed by the disastrous situation at that club, at that team. He’s the only one still dispensing football.”

Providing his stance about Licina’s future, Balzarini suggested that a sale to Brighton will go down well.

“Juve are reportedly considering selling him either to the Premier League, I think Brighton have come forward, or to the Bundesliga, for purely economic reasons. Bayern Munich paid him nothing, and if they offer you €30m-€35m, you sell him.”

He also compared the attacker to Dean Huijsen, who was on Juve’s books before a sale to Bournemouth.

“It would then be, from a budget perspective, an excellent deal, I wouldn’t say a formidable one, because that boy here will be worth 70 (million) in two years. He risks becoming a new Huijsen.”

Our take: Transfer too early to call

This is Licina’s first full season with a first team and while it is going well, things can change quickly in football. Judging him after less than ten games makes little sense, especially as he has just one league goal that came in the first game of the campaign.

But Brighton’s strategy is clear. They want to keep monitoring Licina and assess how he grows. They are not in a hurry and are waiting for the right time to capitalise.

This should be the player’s focus too. He has to focus on his development in Cremona and try to play regular football. That will help his development.
