After a better-than-expected start, the Minnesota Vikings are coming out of their bye with a flawless record. Though, now there’s a sense that first-year general manager Nolan Teasley wants to make an imprint on the roster by making a trade or two. With the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline approaching fast, Teasley is running out of time to negotiate.

Yet, there’s a belief that the Vikings are already expressing interest in trading for an All-Pro talent.

While the Vikings feel like they’re fairly well-stocked at several positions, there are a few areas where they could upgrade. That includes at running back, where Jordan Mason is making his return to the lineup after missing the past four games.

Yet, with both Aaron Jones and Mason in the final year of their contracts, some would like to see the Vikings solve their RB need for the future right now.

One option could be to trade for Jonathan Taylor from the Indianapolis Colts. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Vikings, Broncos, Packers, and Seahawks have all already expressed interest in landing Taylor ahead of the deadline.

“Teams are already calling Ed Dodds, who’s running personnel staff about Jonathan Taylor. The Packers, Seahawks, the Vikings potentially, and Broncos among the teams interested. The only issue here is my understanding is they view him as a big part of the rebuild. We’ll see if they’re willing to deal him.

With Taylor also playing out the final year of his contract, the Colts may prefer to wait it out, hoping to re-negotiate an extension before the three-time Pro Bowler tests the open market this offseason. If Taylor does decide to leave for what he believes could be greener pastures, his departure would factor into the compensatory pick formula, which could help net the Colts as much as a third-round pick in 2028.

Thus, that may be the bar to clear for teams interested in trading for one of the NFL’s best running backs, at least a third-round pick, if not some extra change. With no first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft stemming from the Sauce Gardner trade, draft capital is of utmost importance in Indianapolis right now, but is it more valuable than having a star running back?
