Eintracht Frankfurt have had a chastening start to the season. Die Adler (The Eagles) have their lowest points total at this stage for five seasons. Sitting on five points, after five games, they’ve also conceded 16 goals, six of those coming in last week’s defeat to Leipzig.
Eintracht head coach Adi Hutter can at least point to his side’s relative success on Friday evenings. Two wins and three draws see Eintracht offering a success of sorts on Friday evenings.
They’ll need that Friday factor as it’s now six months since Eintracht Frankfurt tasted success at home. Since that last win over Heidenheim the Eagles have managed three draws and three losses at The Deutsche Bank Park.
Cologne have had a marginally better start to the season and with a win over Eintracht on Friday they could climb a huge five places, such is the tight nature of the Bundesliga table at this stage of the season.
Last time out Rene Wagner’s side were successful in the Rhine derby beating bottom of the table Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-1.
That was Cologne’s first win since the opening day of the season, and they’ll be keen to keep up the momentum by getting a third win of the season on Friday night.
