Portsmouth celebrate scoring

Four games, 17 goals and three red cards tonight. Madness. Just what you want from a Championship midweek, ey?

And in less than 48 hours, we will have more as a resurgent Burnley host a Wolves side looking frail following the international break.

They headline Friday night's blockbuster before the remainder of the second tier burst into action on Saturday, including a showstopper between West Ham United and league leaders Swansea City.

As always, we will be here for the ride. Until then.

It's all over.

Pompey pick up a first win in four and banish the memory of their derby defeat on Sunday, but boy did 10-man Sheffield United make them work for it.

Zak Swanson's stunning strike from outside the box put the hosts ahead and Hamza Choudhary saw red for a second booking just before the break and the game looked up when Adrian Segecic turned home to double the lead on 54 minutes.

However Japhet Tanganga swept home and Tom Cannon turned home a corner eight minutes later, only for Ebou Adams to win it for the hosts in the dying moments.

Phew.

QPR boss Julien Stephan rests some of his attacking players after a job well done.

A warm round of applause is given to Rayan Kolli, Alfie Lloyd and Harvey Vale after fine performances.

Richard Kone, Jonathan Varane and Kwame Poku are on in their stead.

Derby take off Carlton Morris for Lars-Jorgen Salvesen.

West Ham celebrate scoring a third goal

You fear for nine-man Lincoln here...

Jarrod Bowen is found on the right and dances his way inside, across the face of goal, before firing in a low shot, which clips the toe of Sonny Bradley and flies to George Wickens' left and into the corner.

40+ minutes left in this game too...

West Ham celebrate scoring

Konstantinos Mavropanos' header has made this half-time team-talk a lot easier for Nuno Espirito Santo.

Lincoln are a goal down, and two men down, and have been since the 23rd minute.

Tom Hamer saw red for a nasty challenge on Joel Veltman inside three minutes, the fastest red card in the Championship in nine years, while 20 minutes later Conor McGrandles was sent-off for bringing down Jarrod Bowen as he pounced on his error to race clean through.

The Hammers huffed and puffed but couldn't find a breakthrough until the Greek defender powered home with his head on 45 minutes.

It's getting more and more miserable for the Rams.

The Rams players swarm a QPR player in the box but can't take possession, allowing for Harvey Vale to swoop in, cut it onto this right foot and drill it into the net.

It might to early to say that's done it for the R's but, honestly, it might have done.

Glimpse of goal for the visitors as Pablo is found on the right of the area, takes the ball down on his chest but tries something truly ambitious and spectacular, only to lash his attempted first-time volley well wide of the near post.

A cross might have been a better idea.

Morata has since gone down after a very heavy tackle from Dan Oyegoke. Not a comfortable night for the visitors so far.

A very good evening from Fratton Park where Portsmouth will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways tonight.

This is their first match since being beaten in Sunday's South Coast derby when they narrowly lost to Southampton.

Sheffield United will be hoping tonight to pick up the points themselves after their impressive win over Lincoln City on Saturday.

There's talk of a lower attendance for the hosts tonight following Sunday's frustrating defeat by their Hampshire rivals.

We'll keep you updated if it looks to be lower numbers compared to usual here in Portsmouth, it does feel a little bit flat so far with a fair few empty seats over to my right in the Milton End.

Same division, different league...

To say as much can easily be interpreted as some sort of put down for Lincoln City, but sitting here at Sincil Bank where the 11th Century, Gothic Cathedral has just been swallowed up by the night sky, you can't help but admire what this means to the Imps tonight.

It was less than three years ago that West Ham won the Europa Conference League by beating Italian side Fiorentina in the final.

Nine years ago, Lincoln were a non-league club.

West Ham's relegation from the Premier League has landed them in the Championship where they are expected to bounce straight back with promotion.

Lincoln, promoted from League One last season to get back to the second division for the first time in 65 years, are all about survival this season. To do so, they need to get the most out of one of the smallest budgets in the league.
