Hearts travelled to Turkey hoping to put their 7-1 defeat against Celtic behind them, but the Trabzonspor supporters had other ideas.
Just four days after Martin O’Neill’s side demolished the Edinburgh club at Celtic Park, the Hoops’ name was being chanted in Trabzon ahead of Thursday night’s Conference League clash.
And for the travelling Hearts fans, the reminder of Sunday’s humiliation came before another disappointing result on the pitch.

Three games and three defeats for Celtic in the Europa League after a 2-1 loss vs Celta Vigo. What is going wrong for the Hoops? No side has ever qualified for the KO stages of the competition after losing their first three games in the league phase…
A video shared on X by Turkish account Akçaabat Köftesi highlighted Celtic chants in Trabzon as supporters gathered for the European fixture.
The account posted the footage alongside the caption “Trabzon’da celtic tezahüratları”, which translates as “Celtic chants in Trabzon”.

Turkish newspaper 61saat reported on the scenes involving Hearts and Trabzonspor supporters in the city centre before kick-off.
The travelling Scottish fans had gathered at a café-bar and displayed Hearts flags outside the premises. Trabzonspor supporters assembled nearby, with both groups exchanging chants as police monitored the gathering.
The Celtic chants came just days after the Hoops battered Hearts 7-1 at Parkhead, with Callum Osmand and Benjamin Nygren both scoring twice.
It seems the Trabzonspor support were well aware of what had happened in Glasgow.
