Sunday's open practice for the Golden State Warriors was supposed to be a run-of-the-mill day for them in front of their fans. Instead, with the new NBA regular season on the horizon this coming week, it might have a good chance of derailing Golden State's season before it even begins.
That's because franchise legend Steph Curry appeared to tweak his knee without any contact, which is never a good sign. Curry attempted to walk it off to the sideline but eventually went back to the locker room for further treatment and evaluation.
Yikes. Here's hoping for the best for the greatest shooter of all time:
It doesn't necessarily mean anything about Curry's status, but the tenor of Warriors staffers, including Steve Kerr, might indicate how serious his injury is. Of course, Curry is coming off a season where he was plagued by runner's knee. It was the first time in over half a decade that he didn't make an All-NBA team because of his limited availability (only 43 appearances). Curry getting hurt this early in the NBA season would understandably be frustrating and traumatic for everyone in Golden State, regardless of the circumstances.
We'll update this post accordingly once we learn more about Curry's injury.
