Liverpool will discover the injury fate of Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong soon, as the Reds prepare for another important week of action in the Premier League and Champions League.
The duo enforced changes for the Reds during Liverpool's clash with Brentford on Saturday, with both players nursing muscle problems.
Szoboszlai was restored to the starting lineup in west London after missing the matches against Manchester City and LASK due to a hamstring issue he picked up during the international break with Hungary.
While that change was forced, the manager decided to make a switch at the break with Frimpong coming on to attack the ten men of Brentford.
However, his time on the pitch lasted only a few minutes, as the defender also seemed to suffer a hamstring injury that forced him off for Rio Ngumoha.
Liverpool managed to fight back and beat Brentford, winning 2-1 on the day, but at the potential cost of long-term issues for both Szoboszlai and Frimpong ahead of a busy run of fixtures in the Champions League and Premier League.
It remains to be seen just how long the duo will be sidelined, but the Daily Mail claims that the extent of the injuries will be known soon, with scans planned for both players in the next 24 hours, which will set out the recovery timeline in a much clearer way.
Iraola will be hoping to have both players available as soon as possible, with some difficult games coming up, but it seems likely they will at least miss the Champions League clash with Villarreal in midweek, as well as some Premier League matches beyond that.
"Dom [Szoboszlai] felt the same injury, it's not a new injury and was probably not healed enough," the manager admitted after the match, when asked about the health of his stars. "So we will need more time with him. Jeremie's [Frimpong] was new, I think he finished cramping the other day [against LASK].
"I put him on because playing against 10, going forward I thought he could give us more than Ronald [Araujo]. After, I value a lot and he was very good, Victor playing as a right-back. But it will mean we will lose Dom and Jeremie for some time, yes."
Once Liverpool understands the time frame, there may be a clearer sense of how long the team will need to handle the absences.
Considering how thin the squad already looks, and with some matches coming thick and fast, it adds even more challenges for the head coach.
