Not everyone agrees with how the UFC has currently structured the next numbered event.

After a second straight card at the Meta Apex this Saturday, the UFC Octagon will get back on the road for November’s major event at Madison Square Garden.

UFC 334 will be headlined by heavyweight king Ciryl Gane’s title defense against Josh Hokit and Amanda Nunes’ return from retirement to challenge women’s bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison.

There are a number of intriguing bouts on the undercard, but the way they are currently ordered has agitated some fans.

Melquizael Costa is on the UFC 334 early prelims six months after his first main event

Reporter Marcel Dorff recently posted the updated UFC 334 bout order on X.

Below the headlining title defenses for Gane and Harrison, the other three main card spots have gone to Caio Borralho vs Yousri Belgaroui, Uros Medic vs Kevin Holland, and Bilal Hasan vs Luis Gurule.

That means there is no spot on the main card for ex-welterweight title challenger Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, who will be hanging up his gloves at the event.

Thompson called for a farewell MSG fight and had his wish granted in the form of a bout against Charles Radtke, which will be the UFC 334 featured prelim.

Currently closing out the early prelims, meanwhile, is the return of Melquizael Costa, who is moving to lightweight following a 6-1 run at 145 pounds.

After Costa became the first to knock out Dan Ige, he was given a maiden main event against longtime contender Arnold Allen this past May, which he lost via unanimous decision.

Six months after headlining a UFC Fight Night, the Brazilian finds himself on the early prelims at UFC 334, where he is set to fight Jared ‘Flash’ Gordon.

Fans on social media were quick to push back on the current order, questioning the UFC’s placement of Costa’s fight.

“Why the f— is Costa early prelims?”

“Melquizael Costa on the early prelims is wild.”

“Costa just lost a decision against Arnold Allen in a main event, now he fights on the early prelims while Bilal Hasan is opening the main card? This should be fixed.”

That wasn’t the only issue fans had. Others called for ‘Wonderboy’ to be given a spot on the main card for his retirement fight.

“Good card but Wonderboy should be opening up the main card. Put some respect on him.”
