FC Bayern Munich qualified for the round of 16 in the DFB Cup last week with a 6-1 victory over 1. FC Magdeburg. The match against Hertha BSC has now been scheduled.

On Sunday, the record champions learned that they will face Hertha, the current undisputed leader of the 2. Bundesliga, in the next round. A positive for Bayern is that it will be a home game.

The round of 16 matches will be played on Tuesday, December 1, and Wednesday, December 2. The DFB has now scheduled these matches and has already announced which games will be broadcast on which networks.

Bayern vs. Hertha will be shown on RTL

FC Bayern will face the club from the capital on December 1. Kickoff is set for 8:45 p.m. RTL will broadcast the match live. This makes Bayern’s game one of three matches to be aired on free-to-air TV.

The reigning champions intend to avoid any slip-ups and, of course, defeat the second-division team in their own stadium to advance to the quarterfinals. Bayern’s goal is clear: they aim to win the cup again this season.

There is hope that the tight personnel situation will have improved by then. Over the course of November, at least Jamal Musiala and Luis Díaz should be available again and brought back to top form.

Incidentally, the other Round of 16 matches that will be broadcast on free-to-air TV are Leverkusen vs. RB Leipzig (Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., ZDF) and Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Borussia Dortmund (Wednesday at 8:45 p.m., ARD).

The remaining field of contenders in the DFB Cup now consists solely of Bundesliga teams and teams from the 2. Bundesliga. All the top Bundesliga teams are still in the running. The path to defending the title could therefore prove quite complicated. But the primary goal is clear: the plan is to go through Berlin and back to Berlin.
