The future of Washington's offense shone brightly on Friday night as four-star Desert Edge quarterback commit Blake Roskopf and three-star wide receiver pledge Zerek Sidney connected for two touchdowns to secure a 30-23 victory over Millennium High School.
Despite the 6-foot-6, 225-pound UW pledge being held to a season-low 135 passing yards and his second-lowest completion percentage (48.3 percent) as a senior against the previously unbeaten Tigers, the prized signal-caller from Goodyear, Arizona, delivered three touchdowns in Desert Edge's eighth win in 2026.
Roskopf needed just three plays before he stepped up in the pocket and delivered a 15-yard strike to Sidney for the opening score with just over 10 minutes to go in the first quarter. Sidney, a 6-foot, 175-pound pass catcher, showed off his ball skills by climbing the ladder to haul in the pass over two Millennium defenders for his ninth score of the season.
Late in the third quarter, the pair of 2027 commits connected again as Roskopf displayed his arsenal of throws with a fade to Sidney to extend Desert Edge's lead to 27-9, a score that proved pivotal as the Tigers mounted a fourth-quarter comeback that fell just short. It gave Sidney an even 10 touchdown receptions through 10 games and his fourth consecutive game with a score.
The three-star receiver, per the 247Sports Composite, finished with 7 catches for 70 yards to go along with his two scores, the third time this season Sidney has recorded multiple touchdowns in a game.
Roskopf, the No. 14 quarterback in this year's class by the 247Sports Composite, put up three or more touchdown passes for the eighth time this season while also not throwing an interception for the third straight game, the longest streak without a pick in his high school career and something that will appease Jedd Fisch as he prepares to add the talented passer to his roster for the 2027 season.
Despite throwing for under 200 yards in two of his last three games, the prized commit has put up 12 touchdowns while completing nearly 70 percent of his attempts during the stretch. Before the recent run of no turnovers, Roskopf threw at least one interception in six of Desert Edge's first seven games in 2026,
Without an interception over the past three games, Roskopf is one shy of matching his interception total as a junior of eight, and significantly fewer than the 12 he threw as a sophomore in his first year as a starter in 2024. Each year, his touchdown totals have grown from 19 to 37, and now, through 10 games, he's thrown 35 touchdowns, with more to come as the team prepares for postseason play.
