The New England Patriots will be without A.J. Brown for a second straight week.
On Friday, Patriots coach Mike Vrabel confirmed to media members that the star wide receiver has officially been ruled out for the Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Brown has been listed on the injury report with both an ankle and a knee issue, but the knee has been the main reason why he's missed five straight practices. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's a flare-up of a previous injury, but it has caused real concerns on his ability to get back to producing at a high level.
“It flared up. ...I know it says ankle and knee, but it’s the knee," Schefter said on ESPN's Get Up. "The knee held him out last week, and the knee is threatening to hold him out this week. It’s a knee that I think raises some concerns as to how long he’s gonna keep playing here in New England, and producing at a high level.”
Along with Brown, Vrabel also announced that running back TreVeyon Henderson, who is dealing with serious health issues, will be out for the game.
The Patriots' offense has dealt with injuries all season long.
This will be another game where quarterback Drake Maye will have to carry the load and find other avenues to victory against a talented Packers team with a top-10 passing defense.
