The NFL trade deadline is just days away and many fans inside Broncos Country are anticipating that the Denver Broncos will make a move. Sitting at the top of the AFC West following a win over the Kansas City Chiefs, finding a piece to help reach the Super Bowl has to be getting tossed around the front office.
While the name everyone would love to see wind up in the Mile High City is Jonathan Taylor, there will be other players and other positions to consider. Seth Walder of ESPN believes that the team should target an offensive lineman, identifying Landon Dickerson of the Philadelphia Eagles as a potential target.
"One of the reasons quarterback Bo Nix had early career success was that he played behind one of the best offensive lines," wrote Walder for ESPN. "This season, that hasn't been the case with the Broncos ranking 20th in pass block win rate. Dickerson is not a guarantee after his performance fell off last season and a knee injury cost him a slew of games this season. But he doesn't have guaranteed money after 2026. The Broncos can be the team that rolls the dice on him returning to form."
The Broncos had a chance to trade for former Indianapolis Colts guard Quenton Nelson, but the Seattle Seahawks got him. Now, Dickerson could be a solid fallback option.
A second-round pick in 2021, Dickerson has been selected to the Pro Bowl three times while helping the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX. He has dealt with injuries in recent years, which is a concern, but if the Eagles move him for a late-round pick, it could be worth it for the Broncos.
Ben Powers has had his struggles, and Dickerson could be a tremendous upgrade. The move wouldn't lead to breaking news alerts popping up everywhere, as a deal for Taylor would, but it could provide the same kind of impact to the overall structure of the team.
