AEW has crowned a new TBS champion after a tough match on the October 28 episode of Dynamite. Queen Aminata earned the title after defeating Persephone for the first time in her career.

Aminata earned her title shot on last week’s Dynamite when she defeated the returning Maya World in a number one contender’s match.

Persephone defended her title with help from Britt Baker, who repeatedly tried to interfere. However, Aminata fought through the interference and picked up the biggest win of her AEW career.

Queen Aminata beats Persephone to win TBS Championship

Aminata wasted no time once the match began. She rolled up Persephone after the opening lock-up, but Persephone managed to kick out. After that, Persephone trapped Aminata in a submission hold. However, she reached the bottom rope to break free and fought back with two clotheslines.

Aminata kept the pressure on by slamming Persephone into the mat and hitting a double stomp off the ropes. However, when she went for the pin, Baker stepped in from the outside and broke up the count.

Britt Baker’s interference continued to cause problems for Aminata. Persephone then ripped off the kinesiology tape on the back of her opponent’s neck and went for a springboard moonsault. However, Aminata countered the move by raising her knees. Persephone then tried to escape by rolling under the bottom rope.

But Aminata wasn’t going to let her get away. She sat the champion on a chair and hit a meteora.

With the referee checking on Persephone, Baker took advantage of the situation. She hit Aminata with the TBS Championship belt before throwing her back into the ring. Persephone quickly climbed to the top rope and landed a moonsault on Aminata. She went for the pin, looking close to retaining her title, but Aminata kicked out.

The failed pin left Baker frustrated at ringside. Aminata eventually found the opening she needed. She hit a headbutt followed by a running knee strike that left Persephone unable to recover.

Aminata then covered the champion and secured the three-count.

After the match, Willow Nightingale, Thunder Rosa, Hyan, Maya World, Mina Shirakawa, Harley Cameron, and Kris Statlander came out to congratulate Aminata on her victory.
