Rio Henson’s stunning hat-trick inspired March Town to a dramatic 4-3 victory over Dereham Town.
The Hares looked destined for defeat after falling 3-1 behind early in the second half, but three goals in just 13 minutes completed an extraordinary turnaround at home.
Henson was the hero with three goals, while substitute Flo Tsaguim made an immediate impact by scoring the equaliser virtually with his first touch.
Taylor was full of praise for Henson, whose predatory instincts earned him the sponsors’ man-of-the-match award, and feels there is even more to come from him.
“What he’s really good at is anticipating things and getting himself into the right positions,” said Taylor.
“All three of his goals today came from that anticipation, so credit to the lad.
“The goals he’s scoring at the minute are interesting. Last year, he scored some great goals, but at the moment, he keeps scoring headers!
“I look at that and think, right, he’s adding those types of goals to his game.
“When he gets into that rhythm and starts showing what he can really do with his finishing and movement, there’s some player there.
“He’s in a really good moment right now, but I feel, and he knows himself, that there’s still more to come from him.”
Dereham had taken the lead through Jamie North’s excellent long-range strike before Henson capitalised on a defensive mistake to level.
Jesse Fenn restored the visitors’ advantage before half-time, and North converted the rebound from his saved penalty to make it 3-1 shortly after the restart.
But March responded spectacularly.
Henson reduced the deficit after Danny Emmington’s penalty was saved, before Tsaguim struck in the 69th minute to bring the hosts level.
Four minutes later, Henson completed his hat-trick to seal a memorable victory.
Taylor was equally delighted with Tsaguim, who is beginning to rediscover his best form.
“I’m really pleased for him because I’ve started seeing some good signs that he’s getting going again now,” he said.
“We saw a lot of the old Flo today, and his performance levels are getting back to where we need them to be, which is great for the team.”
Despite the thrilling victory, Taylor admitted March had been far from their best.
“I tell you what, this management malarkey can be stressful at times! The old heart rate was going today!
“We probably got away with one there, and I know we can play a lot better than that.
“At 3-1, some teams could end up losing by four or five because they give up.
“We didn’t give up. We kept going and got our just rewards for that.
“We’ve got some group here, with great character, and I’m proud of them today.”
Tomorrow night, the Hares entertain Heacham before making the trip to Kirkley and Pakefield on Saturday.
