Miami linebacker Mohamed Toure left the Hurricanes' game Saturday, Oct. 17 with an injury.
In the second quarter against Florida State, the senior knifed through the line to make a diving fourth-down stop on running Ousmane Kromah. After the play, he was seen talking with trainers on the sideline. ESPN's Tom Hart said he was walking to the locker room.
The Hurricanes had already lost starting safety Zechariah Poyser on a targeting penalty in the first quarter, and versatile defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald has been battling a shoulder injury suffered on the second play of the game. Starting cornerback O.J. Frederique and fellow CB Ja'Boree Antoine were ruled out before the game.
An eighth-year senior, Toure is the leader of the defense, third on the team with 18 tackles entering the game. He was by far the Canes' leading tackler against FSU with nine total tackles before his injury.
Kromah later suffered an ankle injury that required an air cast. He was carted off the field.
With 3:59 left in the second quarter, Toure hit a seam in the line on fourth-and-3 from the Miami 5-yard line to tackle running back Ousmae Kromah. After the play, he went into the locker room and missed the following series, which ended with an Ashton Daniels rushing touchdown.
On the final play of the first half, however, Toure was back on the field for a Tre Wisner run.
