Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to win their third Premier League game in a row when they face an out-of-sorts Crystal Palace side in North London on Saturday evening.

The Eagles have fond memories of their last visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where they claimed a 3-1 victory in March of last season.

Match preview

Following an underwhelming start to the 2026-27 campaign, Tottenham appear to have turned a corner under head coach Roberto De Zerbi and have accumulated eight points across their last five Premier League games (W2 D2 L1).

A winless six-game streak has since been followed by two much-needed victories at home to Coventry City (3-1) and away to London rivals Chelsea (2-0), winning their first league game at Stamford Bridge without reply for the first time in 40 years last weekend.

De Zerbi has insisted that the “qualities of the players are very clear” and is pleased to see the “fight” from a Spurs side that has propelled itself up to 14th in the Premier League table, three points above the relegation zone and only two points behind the top six.

Over the last week and a half, Tottenham have remarkably celebrated only one victory fewer than they managed in their previous 26 Premier League games combined (W3 D10 L13); they are now bidding to win three top-flight matches in a row for the first time since February 2025.

Not since November 2024 have Spurs claimed back-to-back home wins in the league, but on a brighter note, De Zerbi has never lost to Crystal Palace as a manager in four previous meetings (W2 D2) which bodes well ahead of Saturday’s contest.

The pressure is mounting on Crystal Palace head coach Pierre Sage, just four months after succeeding Oliver Glasner in the summer, after losing five of his first eight Premier League games and seeing his team concede a division-high 19 goals.

Frustrated fans at Selhurst Park booed Sage and his players after last Sunday's underwhelming 2-0 home loss to Newcastle United, which capped off a miserable week following their 5-0 drumming at M23 rival Brighton & Hove Albion.

With Palace languishing in 17th place in the Premier League table, it is understood that Sage is in danger of losing his job if the Eagles suffer another defeat against Spurs this weekend, with Sean Dyche believed to be among the main candidates who could replace him.

Sage has not been flustered by such speculation, and the Frenchman received a timely boost when Palace secured a narrow 1-0 victory at Fulham in the EFL Cup fourth round on Wednesday, ending the club’s five-game run without a clean sheet.

Finding consistency in the top flight remains the ultimate hurdle for Palace; since beating Fulham 2-1 in the Premier League back in December 2025, they have lost the most matches (17) and have conceded the most goals (58) of any team in the division.

However, the Eagles have won their last two visits to Tottenham and will endeavour to make it three wins in a row on Spurs’ turf for the first time in their history this weekend.

Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur will serve the third and final game of his three-match ban this weekend, while Destiny Udogie, Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert (all knee), Savio (muscle) and Mykhaylo Mudryk (ankle) are all out injured.

Injury-plagued James Maddison came off with groin discomfort in the win at Chelsea and has emerged as a doubt, while Lucas Bergvall (knee) and Tosin Adarabioyo (calf) will be assessed ahead of kickoff.

Former Palace loanee Conor Gallagher or Archie Gray could step into midfield in the potential absence of Maddison. A positional change for Gray would also open the door for Pedro Porro to return at right-back.

As for Crystal Palace, Ismaila Sarr is still struggling with a groin injury and remains unavailable along with defensive duo Takehiro Tomiyasu (calf) and Chadi Riad (knee).

However, Quinten Timber and Jorgen Strand Larsen may be ready to return to the matchday squad after recovering from respective hamstring and ankle injuries, the latter returned to first-team training on Thursday having previously taken part in individual sessions.

Eddie Nketiah scored the only goal in Palace’s EFL Cup win at Fulham and the former Arsenal man may be rewarded with another start in attack, potentially alongside Jean-Philippe Mateta and Yeremy Pino, while Adam Wharton, Tyrick Mitchell, Anan Khalaili and Axel Disasi are all poised to earn recalls.

Tottenham Hotspur possible starting lineup:

Kinsky; Porro, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Robertson; Gallagher, Fernandes, Tonali; Kudus, Marmoush, Tel

Crystal Palace possible starting lineup:

Henderson; Canvot, Disasi, Richards; Khalaili, Wharton, Kamada, Mitchell; Pino, Nketiah; Mateta

We say: Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Crystal Palace

Eleven of Crystal Palace’s last 14 Premier League games have produced over 2.5 goals, and we expect the net to ripple at both ends of the pitch as these two London clubs go in search of a valuable victory.

Although Palace have won three of their last four meetings with Spurs, De Zerbi’s men appear to be on a different upward trajectory to Sage’s struggling Eagles. Armed with home advantage and growing attacking rhythm, the hosts should ultimately find a way to outscore their defensively-frail opponents to keep their winning streak alive.
