Forest Green Rovers will take legal action against Peterborough over the League One side's approach for their former manager, Robbie Savage.

Dale Vince, Forest Green's owner, confirmed the club's decision, saying it had "begun a legal process for the tapping up of our manager, now ex-manager, Robbie Savage".

He told the BBC: "Peterborough themselves have covered themselves in no glory here. They came to us and said, 'We would like to speak to your manager'.

"We said no, and so they spoke to him, and then he came to us and said, 'I hear Peterborough want to speak to me.' So, that's an illegal approach."

Posh chairman Darren MacAnthony denied the claims, saying they behaved "100 per cent correct and proper, following all the rules".

Vince previously confirmed the club would continue without a manager after Savage's departure.
