Fit-again Harshit to play one game for Delhi in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Pacer Harshit Rana is set to play one game for Delhi in the 2026-27 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy before joining up with the India-A squad for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha. Delhi’s campaign in the domestic T20 competition will begin on November 14 in Indore. The Rising Stars Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from November 19 to 29.

Harshit has had long spells on the sidelines due to injuries this year. The 24-year-old, who can also wield the long handle, missed the T20 World Cup in February-March due to a knee injury. Having only recovered post the IPL, he played five games on the T20I tours of Ireland and England before returning home with a hamstring injury. He then suffered a rectus femoris strain during a match simulation at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru in September.

His return to competitive action for Delhi will be against Jammu & Kashmir at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Fellow India pacer Mayank Yadav has also been selected in Delhi’s 16-member squad, and is expected to play the whole tournament. He will have the company of 38-year-old Ishant Sharma, whose inclusion suggests that he continues to harbour hopes of featuring in the IPL.

Ayush Badoni, who has been in sublime touch in the longer format this season, will lead the side.

The squad: Ayush Badoni (capt.), Priyansh Arya, Sarthak Ranjan, Yash Dhull, Ayush Doseja, Tejasvi Dahiya (wk), Anuj Rawat (wk), Himmat Singh, Mayank Rawat, Keshav Dabas, Suyash Sharma, Digvesh Rathi, Ishant Sharma, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, Simarjeet Singh.
