No. 17 Texas A&M volleyball continued its impressive run Friday night, defeating No. 6 Tennessee in four sets at Reed Arena to secure consecutive top-10 regular-season victories for the first time in program history.
The Aggies won 27-25, 33-31, 15-25 and 25-23, improving to 14-8 overall and 7-3 in SEC play. The victory marked Texas A&M's fourth consecutive win following victories over Auburn, Georgia and No. 4 Kentucky, completing an impressive turnaround after a three-match conference losing streak earlier this month.
Friday's result was particularly significant considering Tennessee entered the matchup riding a seven-match winning streak. The Lady Vols pushed the Aggies beyond 25 points in each of the first two sets before Texas A&M secured both victories. Tennessee responded in the third, but the Aggies overcame a 23-19 deficit in the fourth, scoring six unanswered points to close out the match.
The victory came in front of 6,819 fans at Reed Arena, the seventh-largest crowd in program history. Texas A&M recorded a season-high 16 blocks, compared with Tennessee's 12, helping offset the Lady Vols' advantages in kills (60-58), assists (57-54) and digs (74-59). The Aggies finished with an 80-79 edge in total points.
Stowers led Texas A&M with 19 kills while recording her sixth straight double-double, matching a program record last achieved by Hollann Hans in 2018. She also set a career high with seven blocks.
Ring recorded her fourth consecutive match with double-digit kills, while Manning finished with career highs in assists and digs to record her second double-double of the season. Castle's 12 blocks were a season high and ranked fourth in program history for a four-set match.
The Aggies return to action Sunday, Nov. 1, when they travel to Austin to face No. 14 Texas in the Lone Star Showdown. First serve is scheduled for noon CT at Gregory Gymnasium, and the rivalry matchup will be televised nationally on ABC.
