Newmarket Town continued their club-record run in the FA Trophy yesterday afternoon.
During their three previous appearances in the nationwide competition, the Jockeys had never previously gone beyond the second qualifying round.
Having already seen off Haringey Borough, Gorleston and Leighton Town this term, Saturday’s first-round tie at Faversham Town already represented Newmarket’s best-ever run.
And they are now in the hat for Monday’s second-round draw thanks to a 1-0 victory at Salters Lane.
Ryan Cole was the match-winner for Michael Shinn’s men in Kent when he fired home from just outside the box in the 32nd minute.
Newmarket, who are unbeaten in their last 12 outings in all competitions, could now be paired with Step 2 opposition in the next round on November 14 as National League North and South clubs enter the tournament.

Elsewhere, fellow Suffolk side Needham Market bowed out after following a 2-0 defeat at home to Wingate & Finchley.
Gianluca Botti struck in either half to get the better of the Marketmen, who were FA Trophy quarter-finalists during the 2021/22 season.
