Royal Rumble 2027: Rhea Ripley and more WWE stars we could see win next year’s women’s match

Earlier today, it was announced that the 2027 WWE Royal Rumble event would take place on February 6 after previously being announced for Phoenix, Arizona.

This will be the latest in the year the Rumble has ever taken place, and next year’s women’s match has several potential frontrunners to win and punch their ticket to WrestleMania.

Here are some WWE stars we could see win the 2027 Women’s Royal Rumble match.

Rhea Ripley

After suffering an injury during her match at WWE Clash In Italy, Rhea Ripley was forced to relinquish the WWE Women’s Championship, with an interim champion being crowned at SummrSlam, which ultimately became the permanent champion as questions arose about Rhea’s status.

Rhea is being advertised for events around Wrestlepalooza in Perth in December, so she may be close to making her return to the ring.

If Rhea is back in time for the Royal Rumble, she would definitely have to be considered the favourite to win the match and regain her title that she never lost.

IYO SKY

IYO SKY came up short against Liv Morgan at WWE SummerSlam

Despite winning the Queen of the Ring Tournament, 2026 has been arguably the worst year in the career of IYO SKY after she carried the entire company on her back in 2025.

However, despite being used primarily as a background character in recent months, IYO has been frequently featured across all WWE shows leading into War Games, as well as a potential appearance on this week’s NXT show.

It seems as though WWE is trying to heat IYO back up, and with it happening so close to the Rumble, it would be a statement for her 2027 if she was to score the win in the match.

Naomi

Another WWE star that never lost her championship, Naomi relinquished the Women’s World Championship last year when she announced her pregnancy.

It was recently reported that WWE was discussing a potential return for Naomi soon, with many expecting her to return as part of the Bloodline’s ongoing rivalry with the 946 to neutralise Jaida Parker on the heel side.

Once she is done with Bloodline business though, she should definitely look to regain the title she never lost, with her winning the Royal Rumble and facing whoever the champion is at WrestleMania 43.
