The Blues host one of the National League’s form sides who head to Brunton Park after five straight wins (kick-off 7.45pm).
United also enter the game in improving form, with four wins from five in all competitions.
And Elliot wants his team to play a leading role in a high-quality encounter tonight as United try to continue climbing the table
“I just want it to be a really good game of football. That's the big thing for me,” he said.
“You want to win every game, of course.
“Harrogate play good football. I think we do as well. And at Brunton Park, we're going to make sure we attack the game in the right way and leave it all out there.
“Hopefully it'll be a good advert for National League football, but also a good test for us to go against the team that's up there at the top.
“We feel a little bit hard done by at times that we're not there, but we need to make sure we go out against them and make sure we're there with it.
“Hopefully we’ll be going into the game with confidence [after recent results]. And the challenge is there to and beat a team who are second in the league, but a team that we want to be competing with, especially at home.”
Elliot could be without Tom Anderson and Jack Ellis tonight as the defensive duo nurse calf injuries.

Anderson’s absence could open the door for Kenton Richardson to make his first league start for the Blues.
United are hoping Regan Linney will be fit despite suffering a knock to his knee in the 2-1 win against Solihull Moors on Saturday.
If Elliot considers further changes he could turn to some of the players who came off the bench to positive effect in the 2-1 win, such as David Ajiboye, Miguel Azeez, Ryan Galvin and Stephen Wearne.
Carlisle are seeking a first-ever league win against Simon Weaver’s side tonight.
