The Los Angeles Rams entered this season as Super Bowl favorites, but after their surprising 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6, they are now 2-4.
As a result, Pro Football Network’s NFL Playoff Predictor now gives L.A. just a 0.3% chance of winning the NFC West and a 12.5% chance of making the playoffs.
Is it time to hit the panic button in Los Angeles? PFN’s analysts shared their thoughts on the Rams’ outlook and whether they can still make the playoffs despite their underwhelming start.
“Especially when they have a competitive NFC West schedule ahead of them, as well as a handful of NFC North teams to compete for a Wild Card spot with, the Rams are running out of leeway to make mistakes. The time is now for them to get their act together.”
“A gauntlet of the Packers, Chiefs, 49ers, Cowboys, Seahawks, Buccaneers, and Seahawks awaits. A lot of those will feel like road games, because even the games at home are against teams that will travel with large and noisy fanbases. The problem for the Rams is they are not excelling anywhere. Their numbers are just average across the board, and that is a tough spot to be in when you cannot dominate teams that you should be beating with relative ease.”
“If they see a few go through the hoop, they’ll be a coin flip to make the playoffs and be tabbed as a team that nobody wants to face in the playoffs. Their room for error is gone, but their potential to salvage this season is not.”
