Celtic edge Hibs to move into second in SWPL

Celtic leapfrogged reigning champions Heart of Midlothian into second place in the Scottish Women's Premier League after Kelly Clark's early goal against Hibernian.

A couple of saves from visiting goalkeeper Adelaide Gay kept the hosts at bay before captain Kelly produced the telling moment after only 14 minutes, the centre-half back-heeling home from a Casey Howe cross.

Celtic's Morgan Cross was denied a second by a goalline clearance and Izzy Fisher was thwarted by the crossbar in the second half as further saves by Gay and opposite number Eve Annets prevented any more scoring.

The victory lifted Celtic to within six points of leaders Rangers and two points clear of Hearts, but having played a game more.

Hibs remain fifth, one point behind Glasgow City, who also have a game in hand.
