The Miami Heat are 2-4 and are set to begin a five game west coast trip starting with a contest in Los Angeles against the Lakers and Luka Doncic.
After the Lakers the Heat will play the Clippers, Warriors, Kings, and Jazz.
Not the toughest slate of opponents -- only the Warriors and Lakers are currently at or above .500, and the Kings are winless.
So this west coast trip provides the Heat with a good opportunity to get back to .500.
Luka, Steph, and two games in Los Angeles. The Miami Heat will get an opportunity to showcase their new look squad in front of the other coasts fans. Miami will have the job of containing Luka Doncic and Steph Curry in their matchups, giving them an opportunity to show just how good their defense can be this season.
Head coach Erik Spoelstra talked about their first task in handling Luka Doncic:
“He creates a defense in a (pick and roll) coverage all to himself. It has to be so unique because of his talents. There’s nothing he hasn’t seen in this league and he manages every coverage brilliantly. For us the more disruptive and aggressive we are as a basketball team, that has to become our identity.”

Miami will get to see a few of the NBA's first round picks from this years draft. Keaton Wagler, Yaxel Lendeborg, Darius Acuff Jr. and Darryn Peterson will each get an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of the Miami Heat. The Heat typically give NBA players problems due to their scheming and defensive capabilities -- Spoelstra will likely try some wrinkles in order to make them inefficient.
While the Miami Heat will certainly have their hands full against the Lakers, they are better than the Clippers, Warriors, Kings, and Jazz providing them a strong opportunity to return to .500, and maybe even above. Miami has slowly found their footing each week and if they can start the trip by handling the Lakers, they may even return to Miami on a seven-game winning streak.
Bam Adebayo says this 5 game road trip will be good for the team bonding:

“I feel like going on long trips are always important for the team comrade. You’re away so you don’t have the fans to build on and the comfort of being in your own home and it’s really only us.” https://t.co/reCSPQ8dJg pic.twitter.com/oM3QZZLC76
Like Bam Adebayo said in his interview before the trip, this west coast trip will provide the Miami Heat an opportunity to build some comrade. The momentum the Heat built in their previous two contests before this trip are huge for their ultimate success when they head out west, and a five game trip is never easy, especially with a back to back in the middle of it.
Miami's depth will be put to the test during their trip and if things have truthfully clicked, Miami will finish the trip with a record of 3-2 or better.
Then a homestand opens Nov. 13 with an NBA Cup game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
