Amazon Prime blamed by Manchester United players for poor form

Manchester United’s players have weighed in their opinions on Amazon Prime after the club’s 40-year-low start to the season.

Amazon Prime blamed by Manchester United players for poor form

It’s been 40 years since Manchester United had a start to a league season as bad as this.

Despite Michael Carrick restoring hope to all at Old Trafford with a 3rd place finish and UEFA Champions League qualification, things are getting worse again.

For now, players are attempting to deflect criticism away from themselves and head coach Carrick, with one example being Lisandro Martinez, who aimed his frustration at the club hierarchy.

It appears there is another factor that the Red Devils professionals are disappointed with.

United stars fear the club’s Amazon Prime documentary cameras are affecting their season – because staff and players are holding their tongue in post-match debriefs, according to The Sun.

“The players view the cameras as a pain,” a source told the publication.

“They not only have to meet with them every couple of weeks to do filming, they think that having them in the dressing room means the players and the managers aren’t being as open as they could be about what has been going wrong and what needs to be done to fix it.

“Some of the players are more keen on it than others but the ones that don’t like them think punches are being pulled in the wake of games.”

It’s understandably a hugely frustrating thing for the players, as this source reveals.

After finally appearing to bring their future hopes towards a steady path, the Manchester United hierarchy decided to bring in cameras to unbalance the equation.

Whether the Amazon cameras genuinely make any difference to the substance of team talks in the dressing room, only players and staff will be able to say, but they’re realistically an off-putting addition.

Former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim had been a key factor in talks breaking down between Manchester United and Amazon in the summer of 2025, with the Portuguese head coach clearly uneasy about the impact that the cameras may have had.

Now that the boss in the hotseat at Old Trafford has changed, things are underway. Based off the Red Devils’ start to the new campaign, Amorim may have had a point.
