Rico Verhoeven has had his say on who will win when Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury finally meet in the squared circle later this year.
Both of these celebrated British heavyweights are two-time former world champions who were relieved of their belts by Oleksandr Usyk, and neither managed to win them back in the immediate rematch.
After that, Fury took the whole of 2025 off, while Joshua went on to lose to Daniel Dubois by KO, then beat the overmatched Jake Paul before being put down early in his last fight against Kristian Prenga, though in the second round he came back with an explosive knockout of his own.
The pair will fight at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on December 11th with the WBA belt on the line, but more importantly than that, they are fighting to secure their own legacy.
Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, kickboxing star Verhoeven, who pushed Usyk close in his own clash with the Ukrainian back in May, was asked who he sees winning.
“If you ask me, it’s a coin flip. It depends definitely on the night and how both fighters are feeling. Because if you ask me, if you look at boxing ability, I would go with Tyson Fury.
“I’ve trained with him; I’ve seen him move, but is he still the Tyson Fury of that time, the speed, the agility? If that is the case, I think Joshua will have a very rough night.
“But if it’s going to be a fight like last time, I think It’s going to be dangerous cause Joshua has dynamite in both hands. As soon as he touches you, he goes down. I’m crazy excited for that fight.”
Neither man has particularly excelled in their last few fights, and both are of a similar age in their late 30s, and it’s that which makes this such an intriguing battle.
