Charles Leclerc gave away how he really felt after his incident with Lewis Hamilton in Mexico as he returned to the Ferrari hospitality.
The two Ferraris were P1 and P2 after the first three corners of the Mexico City Grand Prix. At turn four, Leclerc attempted a move around the outside, with both cars running off the track.
The Monegasque driver took the lead off the track and did not hand the place back, while Hamilton lost P2 to Max Verstappen. Leclerc was handed a five-second penalty, which ultimately handed victory to the Red Bull driver and left Ferrari finishing second and fourth.
The incident on the first lap is what cost Ferrari a potential one-two, and Fred Vasseur was not impressed with his drivers after the race. He spoke of the lack of respect being shown to the team, and it is not the first time it has happened in 2026.
At Ferrari’s home race at Monza, Leclerc ran Hamilton wide at the first chicane before he crashed out of the race on lap three. The pair have had a tendency to jeopardise each other’s and the team’s races, which has angered Hamilton.
The seven-time champion has called for rules of engagement at Ferrari, as tensions continue to boil between him and Leclerc. Hamilton deflected questions in the TV pen about his teammate in Mexico, hiding how he really felt.
Leclerc was less than pleased as well, as journalist Edd Straw saw him with a ‘face like thunder’ as he arrived in the team’s hospitality after the race.
Vasseur followed him in, presumably to discuss how Ferrari had thrown away a race that they certainly could have won. Straw said via The Race YouTube channel: “This is what Fred Vasseur is going to talk to them about behind closed doors.
“He’s not going to talk to them like naughty school children. He’s not going to take that approach, but I am convinced he will be forceful, he knows how to do it.
“Funnily enough, as we were coming out of… there’s a room in the back of the Ferrari hospitality, the little group of us, Charles Leclerc arrived. Face like thunder, I think is fair to say, he didn’t look very happy, marched into the driver’s room at the back, and Fred went in after him.
