What can't 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy do?
Purdy has been the catalyst for San Francisco's early-season success, leading the team to its first 5-0 start since 2019.
Now, Purdy has made NFL history by becoming the league's all-time leader in career passer rating.
Entering Monday's game with a 105.4 passer rating, Purdy's fifth pass in the 49ers' Week 6 matchup against the Washington Commanders on Monday night at Levi's Stadium brought him to 1,500 career attempts, qualifying the fifth-year NFL quarterback for the stat.
Purdy went 5 of 6 for 51 yards on the 49ers' opening drive, capping the possession with an 11-yard touchdown pass to tight end George Kittle.

Following the 49ers' opening drive, Purdy's passer rating stands at 105.7.
Purdy now leads a prestigious list that includes current NFL quarterbacks Lamar Jackson, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, and former stars Russell Wilson, Drew Brees and Tom Brady.

Purdy's hot start to the 2026 season began in Week 1, when he threw three touchdown passes in the 49ers' 27-7 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia. After that, he went three straight games without committing a turnover, including a four-touchdown game against the Miami Dolphins.
The 49ers' gritty Week 5 win over the Seattle Seahawks last weekend was Purdy's 50th career regular-season start, and the numbers show that the former seventh-round pick is off to the best start of any quarterback in franchise history.
Purdy has quickly ascended as a star for the 49ers since taking over as the team's starting quarterback midway through the 2022 season.
After leading San Francisco to its second consecutive NFC Championship Game that season, Purdy guided the team to the Super Bowl in 2023, led the league in passer rating and earned Pro Bowl honors. He was the first 49ers quarterback since Jeff Garcia in 2002 to secure a Pro Bowl invite.
The 49ers helped Purdy this offseason by signing Super Bowl champion and future Hall of Fame wide receiver Mike Evans to a three-year deal. Evans has been a major difference-maker for the 25-year-old quarterback and the offense, registering 24 catches for 326 yards and three touchdowns through the first five games.
Purdy and the 49ers continue to impress and if they keep playing at a high level, it wouldn't be surprising if they are the last NFC team standing come February.
