After scoring against Lens on Wednesday, Nov. 4, Como forward Nico Paz celebrated by holding a shirt of late CD Tenerife player Jesus de Miguel.

De Miguel died Tuesday, Nov. 3 after a collision in a La Liga 2 match the day before. His death has provoked sorrow and tributes throughout the soccer world, with Lionel Messi among those sending messages to De Miguel's family and friends.

Paz joined his fellow Argentine in sending a tribute, whipping a goal in with his preferred left foot to put the Serie A side up 3-0 in the Champions League match. He then held up his hands and jogged to the bench.

There, he was given a t-shirt with Di Miguel's image and the words "Rest in Peace" written in Spanish, which he held aloft before making the sign of the cross.

Paz has a personal connection to the club and region where De Miguel played. The Argentina international was born in Tenerife, and played for CD Tenerife's academy. His father Pablo Paz played six seasons with CD Tenerife.

A moment of silence was held before each UEFA Champions League match to honor De Miguel and the victims of the high-speed Spanish train crash that killed 69 passengers.

There were tributes to De Miguel the previous day as well, with FC Barcelona forward Raphinha opting against speaking about soccer after scoring a double and dedicating his post-match interviews to sending strength to De Miguel's loved ones.
