Gerwyn Price has spoken out on social media after pulling out of all scheduled exhibition appearances for 'personal reasons'.
On Wednesday, Price, alongside MODUS Sports Management and MDA Events, confirmed that he would no longer be making his planned appearances for non-PDC events for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.
The reason for his withdrawal was listed as 'personal reasons', and now Price himself has released a new statement to further clarify his decision.
In the initial statement confirming his withdrawal, Price included a brief statement apologising for his decision on such short notice.
He wrote: "I apologise for these last minute withdrawals and hope my fans will understand I need to take a break from non PDC work for the foreseeable future."
But now, the Welshman has released a more details statement on social media, explaining that he's made this decision so that he can spend more time with his family.
"Thanks everyone for your concerns I’m absolutely fine just need time at home and not constantly on the road, I’m absolutely loving darts atm and I hope this continues," Price wrote on his Instagram story.
"In previous years I’ve always made the sacrifices and never missed events, wether it’s exhibitions or PDC tournaments and invitational events,
"After experiences this year my mindset has definitely changed towards this, I have a very busy life inside and outside of darts and need to prioritise what’s best for me and my family,
"You can never buy time and time is what’s most important."
Price's decision comes as he is set to become a grandfather early next year.
Alongside darts, he also runs a fish and chip shop and a farm alongside his family.
While fans will no doubt be disappointed to know that Price will be appearing in less events in the future, it's important to note that we will still be getting plenty of Price on the oche.
His next appearance is likely to be at next month's Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton, which gets underwy at Aldersley Leisure Village on November 14.
He could return earlier for the final two tournaments of the Players Championship in Leicester next week, but it is not believed that he will feature.
Of course, Price will also certainly be in action when the beloved PDC World Darts Championship takes place from Friday, December 11, 2026, to Sunday, January 3, 2027.
Price will be hoping to have more of an impact at the World Darts Championship this year after suffering a shock exit in the second round in the 2026 competetion, losing 3–0 to Wesley Plaisier on December 21.
