For a long while now, WWE’s plans for the main event of WrestleMania 43 have seemed fairly obvious: Roman Reigns defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Oba Femi.
While that reportedly is indeed WWE’s thinking for “The Show of Shows” that of course only pertains to Night Two. Night One on the other hand is far harder to predict.
With CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title said to not be planned for that spot, here are two women’s matches that WWE could go with to close WrestleMania 43 Night One:
Despite WrestleMania being a two night event since 2020, WWE has somehow still only had women close the show on two occasions: firstly back at WrestleMania 35 (when it was still a one night event) and the second time being at WrestleMania 37.
WWE have been criticized every year that passes without a women’s WrestleMania main event, and rightfully so, as the two night format really gives them no excuse for having men close the show on back-to-back nights. While the story has to justify that spot, it’s also not on the performers to come up with a compelling WrestleMania main event worthy creative plans.
With no clear and obvious Undisputed WWE Title plans coming to mind that would demand that spot, WWE should end the five-year drought by putting on what may very well be the biggest women’s match at their disposal for next year: Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair.
While “The Eradicator” and “The EST” did meet in a three-way along with IYO SKY back at WrestleMania 41, they have yet to go one-on-one at WWE’s biggest stage. If Belair comes back to action after almost two years to win the 2027 women’s Royal Rumble, she could set up that date with Ripley for WrestleMania 43.
Another worthy women’s main event of WrestleMania 43 Night One would be a war between Judgment Day teammates Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez.
Fans were convinced that a Money in the Bank win for Perez would be the catalyst of her long-awaited split from The Judgment Day, however, that didn’t come to pass as Tiffany Stratton instead captured the briefcase for a second time in two years.
Thankfully for WWE, they have an equally as good opportunity to instigate a Judgment Day breakup when the 2027 Royal Rumble comes around in February.
A win in the women’s Rumble would propel Perez’s career to new heights, and WWE could help solidify her as a main event presence even further by giving her the distinction of being a WrestleMania main eventer.
