As the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints were kicking off Sunday’s NFL action with a morning (United States time) contest, NFL Network was on the scene calling the action.
Veteran play-by-play announcer Dave Pasch and former NFL players Jason Kelce and Kurt Warner were in the booth. But things were not smooth during the broadcast, and fans were up in arms about the situation.
One egregious error came from Warner, who won a Super Bowl championship while playing for the Rams when they were in St. Louis. Warner kept repeatedly referring to Pittsburgh’s Jaylen Warren as Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren.
Awful Announcing’s account on X shared a clip of Warner continually mistaking one Warren for another. It’s not a good look for Warner right here.
This Steelers observer pointedly called out Warner for his miscue in this post online. The person wrote, “How many times is Kurt Warner gonna call Jaylen Warren Tyler Warren before someone corrects him?”
As for this NFL fan, this observer wondered just what in the world Warner was doing with that repetitive mistake. The person wrote, “Really showing off his game prep”. For this person, he’s just not impressed with Warner at all: “Never thought much of him as an announcer.”
Dom DiTommaso of Pittsburgh sports radio station “93.7 The Fan” was probably yelling at his TV screen as Warner kept on calling the wrong player’s name. DiTommaso posted online, “Hey Kurt Warner, his name is JAYLEN Warren. JFC.”
Another Steelers fan was also pointed in his commentary not only about Warner, but on the entire NFL Network crew. The fan wrote, “This announcer team is a joke!!”
Jarrett Bailey, who writes about the NFL for SB Nation, wanted to send a direct message to Warner: “Can someone please tell Kurt Warner it’s Jaylen Warren, not Tyler Warren. That’s 3 times, man.” Yet another fan was, again, not happy with the NFL Network team at all. The fan posted online, “The whole crew has been a clown show this game”.
And, well, here’s this NFL fan simply putting the chef’s kiss on criticism of Warner’s work in the booth on Sunday. The fan wrote, “Gawd he’s so bad. Him and Kelce suck”.
As the game rolls along in the second half, maybe Warner and the NFL Network crew will step up their own work. If not, expect more NFL fans to hit social media and air their grievances.
