A report over the weekend indicated that New Orleans Saints wide receiver Jordyn Tyson could return to practice this week after being sidelined for the last two-plus months with a hamstring injury.
But on Monday, Saints coach Kellen Moore wasn't quite ready to say whether that would be the case.
Moore said the Saints would wait and see if Tyson, running back Travis Etienne and tackle Kelvin Banks can practice this week as the Saints prepare for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.
All three are on injured reserve and technically eligible to return, having already missed the minimum of four games.
"The IR guys are still to be determined," Moore said. "They'll have some work (Monday) in the training room, and then we'll make a decision about whether Wednesday is an ideal time to bring them up and make their practice availability.
"We should know here shortly."
Moore said Banks and Etienne have progressed "pretty well" from their injuries. The left tackle suffered a high-ankle sprain that required him to undergo surgery in a Week 2 win over the Baltimore Ravens, while the running back hurt his hamstring in a Week 3 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Once a player on injured reserve is designated to return to practice, a team has 21 days to either activate him to the active roster or keep him on injured reserve for the rest of the year.
"These timetables are always challenging on players," Moore said. "They all want to come back, and get ready to rock and roll and get ready to play football. That's what they all love to do."
As for Tyson, Moore said there has been no setback in the rookie's rehab from his hamstring injury — despite the initial reported timeline being roughly two months.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Tyson, the eighth overall pick, could return for the Saints against the Browns, but added, "if not then, he is not far from playing."
Tyson, who has a history of hamstring injuries, got hurt in an Aug. 13 practice against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"We're just letting the medical side of this thing go through that evaluation and make the decision when it's best for him to be back playing full football," Moore said. "And so, he's making really good strides and we'll be ready as soon as that becomes an option."
