One of the intriguing stories to watch during the opening weeks of the NBA season is the return of Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving.

The nine-time All-Star is fully healthy after a lengthy rehab, and the Mavericks posted a heartwarming video as he prepares for regular-season action.

NBA World Reacts To Mavericks Posting Kyrie Irving Return Video

The Mavericks’ social media account posted an in-depth look at Irving’s rehab following reconstructive surgery on his left knee. Irving tore his left ACL near the end of the 2024-2025 regular season and missed all of last season while rehabbing. The video chronicles Irving regaining strength while spending time with his family.

Several Irving fans reacted strongly to the video, with one saying, “I’m all emotional now.”

Some fans expressed similar feelings, with one fan saying, “I got goosebumps watching this Kyrie vid.”

Another fan said, “I got goosebumps bro welcome back Kai.”

Another fan praised the Mavericks’ media team, saying, “MAVERICKS MEDIA TEAM NEEDS A RAISE FOR THIS KYRIE VIDEO.”

Irving officially made his 19- month return to the court during the preseason, where he averaged 17.5 points per game. The displays helpedbuild anticipation that Irving could have another All-Star- caliber season ahead.

Irving’s potentially strong play will further complicate his future in Dallas. The organization has undergone a complete overhaul since his injury.

Irving arrived in Dallas hoping to win championships with former franchise player Luka Dončić. Dončić is no longer in the organization, nor is the centerpiece player he was traded for, Anthony Davis.

The architect of that trade, Nico Harrison, is also gone, as well as former head coach Jason Kidd. Masai Ujiri is now running things, with new head coach Dusty May hoping to become the next coach to successfully transition from college basketball to the professional ranks.

The new face of the franchise is Cooper Flagg, as the Mavericks and other teams around the league are curious to see how Irving fits next to Flagg as a co-star.

The Mavericks are considered by many to be a rebuilding franchise, which complicates things with Irving. Irving could enter free agency next summer by declining his player option, which has led to speculation that he could be a trade candidate if the Mavericks get off to a poor start.

However, several Mavericks fans hope the tribute video is a sign Irving could ultimately retire as a member of the organization.
