The Seattle Seahawks set the NFL world ablaze earlier this week when they traded for future Hall of Fame left guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts. Seattle's general manager John Schneider leveraged his working relationship with Colts interim GM Ed Dodds to strike an incredibly favorable bargain to acquire the eight-time Pro Bowler.
Quenton Nelson is set to make his Seahawks debut on Monday night to cap off NFL Week 8 against the Chicago Bears, and he will slide right into his usual left guard position. However, there will be something new to Nelson's career, and it won't just be the change in scenery.
On Thursday afternoon, the Seattle Seahawks officially announced Nelson's new jersey number. For the first time in his professional, and collegiate, career... Quenton Nelson will be rocking No. 53. Seattle announced this on their social media platforms, and you can see the official review video down below!
The Seahawks have quite the challenge ahead of them with the Chicago Bears. Not only will they be facing a 5-2 team, they will have to square off against one of the best defensive tackles in the game in Jeffery Simmons.
Fortunately for Seattle, they now employ a man specifically suited to dealing with Simmons... as Quenton Nelson has faced off against him twice a year as former AFC South rivals.
