Matthias Jaissle only arrived at Newcastle in the summer but is already under significant pressure to save his job. The former Al-Ahli boss has overseen a frustrating start to the campaign, with the Magpies winning just two of their opening seven Premier League matches. As a result, some fans are already starting to lose patience with Jaissle, who was snapped up to replace Eddie Howe in August.
It will be crucial for Newcastle to start picking up points over what is a favourable run of fixtures in the coming weeks. They will face Crystal Palace, Everton and Fulham between now and the start of the November international break.
However, if their dire form continues, there is a very real chance that Jaissle could be relieved of his duties before Christmas.
That would leave Newcastle scrambling to find a replacement, but who could they go for? Express Sport looks at four potential candidates...
Julian Nagelsmann
The former Germany boss has been out of work since leaving Die Mannschaft after their World Cup exit in the round of 16.
Despite his underwhelming spell in charge, he remains a highly successful manager and has been linked with a Premier League move for many years. Could he finally be tempted over to England with Newcastle?
Another high-profile candidate, the Dutchman has already stated that he wants to return to club football after leaving Liverpool in the summer.
He is already proven in the Premier League despite a poor second season at Anfield and could be an option for Newcastle if they decide to go down that route.
Kieran McKenna
The former Ipswich manager is currently on hiatus, but there's every chance that a club like Newcastle could tempt him back into the dugout.
However, a move would come at a significant cost, with the Tractor Boys still due around £8million in compensation if McKenna takes another job before the end of the season.
Frank's name has already been bandied about on social media in connection with the Newcastle job. While it didn't work out for him at Spurs, he is still widely regarded as a top manager thanks to his impressive spell in charge of Brentford.
As such, he would be an interesting candidate for Newcastle if they decide to part ways with Jaissle over the coming weeks.
