JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Tameron Ferguson scored 20 points as Arkansas State beat Toledo 71-70 on Monday in a season opener for both teams.
Ferguson also added seven rebounds and three steals for the Red Wolves. Layne Taylor scored 13 points while going 5 of 13 (3 for 9 from 3-point range). Jordan Pyke shot 4 of 7 from the field and 2 for 6 from the line to finish with 11 points and had nine rebounds.
Mynor Strong finished with 18 points and four steals for the Rockets (0-1). Jaylan Ouwinga added 16 points, 14 rebounds and two steals for Toledo. Angel Montas had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Arkansas State: visit Alabama on Friday.
Toledo: at Michigan State on Thursday.
