Kayah Michorczyk represented England at the 16th WUKF European Karate Championships, held at the Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield from October 21 to 25

She won gold medals in three categories - Female Under-11 Kata, Brown to Black Belts; Female Short Weapon, ages 10–11, and Female Long Weapon, ages 10–11.

Kayah, already a double World Champion from her triumph in Romania, continues to impress with her determination, discipline and resilience.

Her journey to triple European Champion began in August, when she confidently told Phoenix Karate School that she was aiming for gold at the European Championships.

Her ambition was realised as she won gold in both of her Kobudo weapon categories and added a third European title in Kata.

Saturday, October 24, was particularly memorable for Kayah and her family.

She competed in the Kata competition, where she performed her Shito-Ryu Kata against international opposition.

Her scores progressed impressively from 18.9 in the first round, to 21.8 in the second, and an impressive 24.8 in the final, securing her the European title.

She also competed in the Short Weapon category with the Kama, securing another gold medal after a significant victory against a French national champion.

Her final challenge was the Long Weapon category, using the Bo staff, where she secured her third European title.

Kayah's achievements mean more than just sporting success to her family, who have watched her grow in confidence, maturity, and composure, learning to manage the pressure of international competition.

Her family expressed immense pride in the young athlete she is becoming.

Kayah and her family extended their gratitude to all who have supported her, especially Sensei Vivianne Trorey and Sensei Wayne Trorey for their guidance and coaching.
