Miami’s 115-110 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday left the Heat at 0-3 to start the season. After the game, former NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas shared a breakdown of what he believes the franchise is missing at the point guard position.

Thomas has not played in the NBA since a stint with the Phoenix Suns in 2023-24, but he dropped 56 points at a Pro-Am in Vancouver as recently as August 2026 and joined the Boston Celtics as a pro and college scout in May without formally retiring from playing.

However, NBA fans saw his take on Miami’s roster as something other than pure analysis.

NBA Fans Read Isaiah Thomas’ Heat Analysis as Subtle Pitch for a Roster Spot

Thomas made the case that Miami needs a point guard capable of scoring, shooting off the catch, and making life easier for the team’s primary pieces. He argued that Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo, acquired from Milwaukee in a major offseason trade, operate in overlapping areas and struggle to create for each other on offense.

“Miami need a dynamic PG who can score, catch and shoot at high level and be able to make things easier for the MAIN guys. Bam and Greek freak can’t make each other better on offense. Play same position and operate in same areas,” Thomas wrote on X.

The profile he described resembles the one Thomas spent years building in the league, and fans were not slow to notice. The self-promotion reading dominated the replies from the start.

“Bro running the sign me gimmick in 2026,” commented one user.

“Is this just a way of IT plugging himself,” an NBA content creator asked.

“Sounds like Kyrie,” another hoops fan remarked.

Others skipped the analysis entirely and went straight to his chances of getting a call.

“Dawg. They not calling you,” one user bluntly wrote.

“Yeah and that ain’t you LMFAOOOOOO,” another quipped.

Taken 60th overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2011 draft, Thomas made his way into one of the game’s best players by the mid-2010s, averaging 28.9 points per game for the Celtics in 2016-17, earning All-NBA Second Team and finishing fifth in MVP voting that season.

Hip issues derailed the two-time All-Star’s trajectory. Across his 12 NBA seasons, Thomas played for 10 teams, with his last NBA action coming with Phoenix in 2023-24.

Meanwhile, on the court on Saturday, Brandon Miller led the Hornets with 34 points a day after putting up just 6 in a 128-81 home loss to Atlanta on Friday. Dennis Schroder added 25, Naz Reid 23, and Grayson Allen 20 as Charlotte moved to 2-1.

Antetokounmpo had averaged 35.5 points across his first two games in a Heat jersey but was held to 14 on Saturday and fouled out with 1:57 remaining.

For Miami, Davion Mitchell led the way with 22 points, and Bam Adebayo added 20 in the losing effort. The Heat have dropped to 0-3 to open the season, with Antetokounmpo and Adebayo yet to find a consistent offensive rhythm together.
