Cowboys current 2027 draft pick slots ahead of Week 9, trade deadline

The Dallas Cowboys are likely going to keep the band together, but their gambles on what they thought they could achieve are currently looking like suckers bets. Dallas made a series of transactions this past offseason and into the regular season that were meant to help them compete for a Lombardi trophy this year. Sitting at the former midway point of the season, though, they have a 3-5 record and face a daunting schedule that includes the NFC's best team (SF), last season's SB champ (SEA), the team everyone crowned (LAR) and perhaps the AFC's top team (JAX).

Another sub-.500 season is staring them in the face, so placing the franchise tag on WR George Pickens, and trading for Broderick Jones and Joey Porter's expiring contracts are beginning to be viewed as ill-perceived ventures. With eight days remaining before the NFL trade deadline (November 10), should the Cowboys consider being sellers this year?

Their current allotment of 2027 draft picks is minimal.

Dallas traded two draft picks, a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick, in order to acquire Porter. As oustanding as he looks when on the field, he was on a ramp-up his first game, missed his home debut due to illness, and then missed much of Sunday's collapse against the Cardinals with an ankle injury. Pittsburgh refuses to negotiate with players in season.

With just three draft picks at the moment, here's a recap of what they have, and what's been sent out.

2027 1st-round pick (1.20)

  • Cowboys traded the better of their own or Packers' pick (Parsons trade) to NYJ for Quinnen Williams

    • Cowboys are tied with three other teams at 3-5, but have the worst SOS (.445)

    • Cowboys currently sending 1.10 to Jets, keeping 1.20 (Packers)

2027 2nd-round pick (2.13 or No. 45)

  • Dallas still owns their own second-round pick

    • As Dallas is first among four teams ties with the same record, they would pick last among them in Round 2

  • 2027 3rd-round pick (None)

    • Own pick sent to Pittsburgh in trade for OT Broderick Jones

2027 4th-round pick (4.28, approximately No. 130)

  • Own pick sent to Green Bay in Rashan Gary trade

  • Steelers pick came back along with Broderick Jones

  • 2027 5th-round pick (None)

    • Own pick sent to Pittsburgh in 2025 George Pickens deal

  • 2027 6th-round pick (None)

    • Acquired Steelers' 6th in Pickens trade, sent back in Jones trade

    • Sent own pick to Steelers in Joey Porter trade

  • 2027 7th-round pick (None)

    • Sent this pick, along with 2026 1st to Eagles (WR Makai Lemon) for 2026 1st (OLB Malachi Lawrence), 2026 4th (CB Devin Moore), 2026 4th (DT LT Overton)
