WWE NXT delivered a big surprise on November 4 as a former Women’s Champion made her long-awaited return.
The mystery challenger was announced after Jordan successfully defended her NXT Women’s Championship against Wren Sinclair at Halloween Havoc on October 31. After the match, NXT General Manager Robert Stone told the champion that she would defend her title again on the November 4 episode against an opponent of his choosing.
However, Stone kept the challenger’s identity a secret, leaving fans guessing about who would step up to face Jordan.
Jordan’s mystery challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship turned out to be Paige.
Kelani Jordan came into the show knowing she had to defend her title against an opponent whose identity had not been revealed. The mystery finally ended when Paige’s music hit, bringing the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion back and getting a huge reaction from the NXT crowd.
Jordan started the match aggressively, hitting Paige with a low crossbody right after the bell. However, the returning star fought back with two headbutts followed by several knees.
The action soon moved outside the ring, where Paige hit a cannonball on Jordan from the ring apron. Paige later tried to end the match with a roll-up, but Jordan managed to kick out. The champion then caught her opponent in a crossface and tried to submit her.
Jordan looked to build on it by setting up for a split-legged moonsault. However, Paige saw it coming and raised her knees to block the move.
With Jordan in trouble, Paige started setting up for her finisher Ram-Paige. However, she could not complete the move as Jordan countered into a roll-up.
The quick counter caught Paige by surprise, allowing Jordan to get the three-count and retain her NXT Women’s Championship.
