The Portuguese club secured an incredible 3-2 win against Ararat Armenia this week, scoring twice in injury time despite playing with ten men for more than an hour.
Nuno's first match in charge followed Torreense's decision to sack Luis Tralhao. Tralhao led the side to its first national Cup last season, when it stunned Sporting Lisbon.
Torreense are 12th among 18 teams in Portugal's second tier, but have exceeded expectations in the Europa League. They are 19th in the group and currently on course to reach the play-offs, while Celtic are 32nd.
Celtic's next Europa League match will be played in Leiria, about 50 miles from Torreense's home in Torres Vedras. The move is needed because Torreense's 2,000-capacity ground is not suitable.
Torreense boss Joao Nuno said: "That was an unforgettable night for everyone at Torreense, for the people at the club.
"Given how the season has gone, it was an important win for the fans. Everyone identified with what we are trying to do.
"It was an absolutely epic victory and I could not ask for a better debut as a manager.
"Celtic are next here, so we will fight to do everything to try to get points and try to win the game.
"Let's continue our dream because we have done beautiful things in Europe this season."
