It has been over 12 months since Kieran Tierney returned to Celtic from Arsenal.
Everyone is aware that Tierney isn’t always going to complete 90 minutes of football due to his past injury issues, but that doesn’t mean he still can’t produce high-level performances.
On Sunday, Celtic thrashed Hearts 7-1, with Tierney helping himself to the opening goal, as well as an assist; his fourth in all competitions this season.
This was the boyhood Celtic fan at his free-flowing best, with his numbers making for great reading, and another example that he is the best player in Scotland when on top form.
For the fifth time this season, Tierney was handed a rating of over eight by Sofascore, including 67 Hail Hail, giving him a rating of 8.5 for his Hearts showing.
The Scotland international played just an hour, as he has only completed 90 minutes on three occasions this term, but everyone is going about it in the right way.
Not pushing Tierney beyond his limits is allowing him to remain injury-free, available and fresher for the next game, and it’s showing itself in his performances.
It allows the 29-year-old to play with more energy, thus causing the opposition problems when driving forward with the ball, making dangerous runs, and feeding in dangerous balls into the final third.
Or stopping everything or anything the opposition throws at him from a defensive set-up. It’s a joy to watch, and Celtic are blessed to have him.
