ALFIE Bavidge says he has the belief to make an impact in front of goal for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Championship.
The striker, who is on loan from Aberdeen, found his fourth goal of the season as Inverness recorded a 2-0 victory over Arbroath at the Sarens PSG Stadium on Saturday.
His goal came after starting the previous five matches against Ayr United, Livingston, Greenock Morton, Stenhousemuir, Queen’s Park on the substitutes bench.
Bavidge (20) who is now on his third loan spell at Inverness from Aberdeen, says it has been a frustrating period for him not starting games.
So he was delighted to find the net again for the first time since scoring against Greenock Morton at the end of last month.
He said: “I did have a spell out of the team which can be frustrating, but you need to keep going and keep that positive mindset.
“I have the belief in myself that if I can go on the pitch and I can have the impact to go and score the goal.”
Bavidge put Inverness 2-0 up after Calum Macleod had put the hosts in front with both goals scored in the first half.
Paul Allan saw his penalty saved in the second half of the match, but Inverness were rarely threatened by Arbroath until injury time when goalkeeper Ross Munro pulled off a double save to keep his clean sheet.
Bavidge says the win showcased a professional performance which was their fourth victory in their last six matches.
He said: “We managed the game really well, especially in the second half.
“We were 2-0 up and the timings of the goal were really good.
“You look at the performances at the first four games, which I thought were still quite good. But we lacked the finishing in touch and perhaps lacking belief at times.
“We have got that belief and we are proving that now. We are scoring goals and still keeping the ball out of the net.”
Inverness have moved up to fourth place in the table as they are now seven points behind league leaders Stenhousemuir.
Despite being in the Premiership play-off zone, Bavidge says nobody is getting carried away and are taking the season one game at a time.
He said: “There is no mention of that in the changing room. It sounds cliche, but every game is the same, you are not thinking about the league table and what would happen.
“We are focussing on getting three points every week.
“If we stick to how we play today and the previous Saturday, we will be fine. We have a really good squad with lots of quality.”
