Man Utd Player Ratings Vs Bournemouth: One Player Gets 2/10 And Five Others Get 3
Man Utd Player Ratings Vs Bournemouth: One Player Gets 2/10 And Five Others Get 3

The fate of Man Utd boss Michael Carrick had likely been sealed before kick-off, but the abject performance against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon was the final nail in the coffin.

Carrick has clearly lost the dressing room before, and it was self-evident during the 3-0 loss that the players had downed tools.

Carrick’s name was sung after the final whistle by the fans who stayed in their seats at Old Trafford, but even those who sounded their appreciation will know he was completely out of his depth.

Press the next page as we give our Man Utd player ratings for the humiliating home defeat to Bournemouth…

Goalkeeper and Defence

Leny Yoro

GK – Senne Lammens – 3/10 – made one decent save from Rayan before he made a howler for Bournemouth’s third, misreading Lewis Cook’s pass before Evanilson bypassed him and put the ball into the back of the net.

RB – Leny Yoro – 3/10 – Carrick’s insistence on playing the Frenchman out of position is one of the many criticisms that can be levelled at him. Yoro did make a decent interception early on to deny Evanilson, but his slip led to the second goal.

CB – Harry Maguire – 3/10 – booked before halftime, and he then nearly gave a goal away at the start of the second. Luckily for him, Evanilson was offside.

CB – Ayden Heaven – 2/10 – his passing was woeful, and his reckless two-footed lunge got him a yellow card and led to Bournemouth’s opener from the resulting free-kick.

LB – Diogo Dalot – 3/10 – another player out of position, and it showed. He struggled on the ball with some poor crosses.

Midfield

Youri Tielemans

CM – Andrey Santos – 4/10 – booked in the first half and pedestrian in possession of the ball.

CM – Carlos Baleba – 4/10 – the 22-year-old didn’t win many duels, which is supposed to be his job. We knew his passing wasn’t great before he was signed, but he gave the ball away too often.

AM – Youri Tielemans – 3/10 – it was not a surprise to see the Belgian hauled off after 45 minutes. He is a pale shadow of the player who performed so well for Aston Villa last season.

It is a damning indictment of United’s recruitment that the three players who started in midfield were all brought in during the summer transfer window. They were collectively atrocious.

Forwards

Bryan Mbeumo

RW – Amad – 4/10 – deservedly started after his positive substitute performance midweek, but the fact that he is starting games at all – considering his woeful goal output since the start of last season – sums up the state of the club.

The Ivorian international has scored a grand total of 2 goals since August 2025, and his last came during the 4-4 draw against Bournemouth in the corresponding fixture back in December last year.

ST – Bryan Mbeumo – 6/10 – the 27-year-old at least tried to make an impact, forcing Cherries keeper Djordje Petrovic into a first-half save, but he struggled to get into the game as he was starved of service.

LW – Mason Mount – 5/10 – replaced captain Bruno Fernandes and he offered next to nothing on the ball. He worked hard, which is more than can be said of some of his teammates.

Substitutes

Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martinez – 4/10 – got flattened by Rayan before the Brazilian fired a shot wide. Things didn’t get much better for him after that.

Matheus Cunha – 5/10 – replaced Tielemans to add more in the final third, but he contributed just one wayward shot.

Joshua Zirkzee – 5/10 – similarly to Cunha, the Dutchman had one shot of note, having replaced Baleba with 20 minutes to go.

Shea Lacey – 6/10 – the young winger was positive, putting in crosses and having a shot blocked.
