Manchester United's torrid season will continue on Tuesday evening, as they clash with Roma in the Champions League. And he will welcome the Italian giants to Manchester with a squad he's trying to keep together.
Lisandro Martinez called out the Red Devils' owners after their last Champions League clash, and was then sent off against Chelsea over the weekend. However, Carrick has insisted he has "no concerns" over the Argentine.
And with all that going on, United are still looking towards the transfer market for their latest superstar. Daily Star Sport has rounded up all the biggest stories of the past 24 hours.
United have reportedly reached out to the representatives of Lennart Karl, as the teenager continues to turn heads at Bayern Munich. The attacking midfielder, 18, has already racked up more than 50 appearances for Bayern and earned his senior international debut earlier this year.
However, recent remarks made by Bayern's honorary president, Uli Hoeness, haven't been well received by Karl's representative, ex-Germany international Michael Ballack, sparking rumours that he might be considering leaving the club , reports the Mirror.
Hoeness stated: "He's far from being a superstar. Young players need humility. Comparisons with Michael Olise obviously don't do him any good. There's still a world of difference between them."
According to Bild, these comments have triggered 'unrest' and caught the attention of United, Liverpool and Arsenal regarding his possible availability.
Carrick maintains he has no grounds to doubt Martinez's dedication despite his latest remarks and displays. After criticising director of football Jason Wilcox last month, the Argentine received his marching orders against Chelsea following two yellow cards.
Martinez's contract runs out in the summer and, as matters stand, it wouldn't be shocking if he departed the club. Yet Carrick doesn't believe the 28-year-old has become a problem.
He commented: "No, I've got no concerns about commitment at all. Things happen in football. Sometimes you do things, sometimes you make a decision, sometimes you make mistakes. But the commitment is not an issue for sure.
"I've said it before, the commitment of the players to the club, to me, to each other is something I don't question at all. We need to play better, we can make better decisions, but commitment's not a thing at all."
