NAVI finished second in the MPL Indonesia Season 18 regular season, level on record with leaders Team Liquid ID and through to Round 2 of the playoffs. Defending champions Bigetron by Vitality and last season's runners-up ONIC now face single-elimination matches on 4 November.
NAVI will start the MPL Indonesia Season 18 playoffs in Round 2 after finishing the regular season level with Team Liquid ID at the top of the table. Both teams went 12-4 with 12 match points, and Liquid ID claimed first place only because their net game win of +15 edged NAVI’s +13, according to league organizer Moonton. Over the season NAVI won 25 games and lost 12, while Liquid ID went 26-11.
The club said finishing second, with a direct place in the second round of the playoffs, is the best result in its history. This season’s finish comes after a run of weaker campaigns. Liquipedia lists NAVI ninth in Season 15, joint fifth to sixth in Season 16 after a 1-3 playoff loss to Alter Ego, and eighth in Season 17.
NAVI closed the regular season with a 2-1 win over RRQ Hoshi in the final week, and the club’s match feed lists a 0-2 defeat to Bigetron by Vitality on 18 October. Rookie Joshuaa was named Best Rookie of the Week again in week nine, bringing his season total to five awards, the club said.
The tie at the top changes the familiar Indonesian order. Under the hybrid format, seeds three to six play a single-elimination first round, while the top two skip it and start in Round 2 of a double-elimination bracket. Series are best-of-five, except the lower bracket final on 7 November and the grand final on 8 November, which are best-of-seven. With the champion and the runner-up both qualifying for M8, two series wins in the upper bracket would send NAVI to the World Championship.
Their first opponent will be the winner of Alter Ego vs ONIC, the club said. Alter Ego finished third at 10-6 with a +10 game difference, and they are the side that ended NAVI’s Season 16 playoff run. EVOS finished fifth at 8-8, while Dewa United, RRQ Hoshi and Geek Fam finished seventh to ninth and are out.
Bigetron by Vitality and ONIC arrive in the playoffs under pressure. Bigetron beat ONIC 4-1 in the Season 17 grand final at the Jakarta International Velodrome on 14 June 2026, the club’s first MPL ID title, Dunia Games reported. That final also sent both teams to MSC 2026 in Paris.
This time Bigetron finished fourth at 10-6 with a +3 game difference, and ONIC sixth at 7-9. A single defeat in Round 1 will end either team’s season.
The stakes extend beyond Indonesia. Season 17 was the most-watched esports tournament in the world in June 2026, peaking at almost 2.95 million viewers during the Bigetron vs ONIC grand final, Esports Charts said. Season 18 carries a prize pool of Rp4,860,000,000. M8 offers a US$1,000,000 prize pool, with the Swiss Stage at ESA Arena in Türkiye on 3-10 January 2027 and the grand final at Ora Arena on 23 January 2027. Moonton describes it as the first M Series event in Europe.
The playoffs open in Surabaya on 4 November with Alter Ego vs ONIC at 13:00 ICT and Bigetron by Vitality vs EVOS at 18:00 ICT. NAVI play their Round 2 match at 13:00 ICT on 5 November, with Team Liquid ID following at 18:00 ICT.
