The Atlanta Falcons have lost three out of their last four games, and it's probably not a coincidence that Bijan Robinson has failed to rush for more than 86 yards in a game during that span.
While Robinson almost always finds a way to impact the game, he hasn't put up his usual eye-popping numbers in a few weeks. Nonetheless, Robinson's steady production has made him the NFL's rushing leader going into Week 9.
The Falcons running back has 780 rushing yards, which gives him a slight lead over Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs (773 yards) and Kansas City Chiefs RB Kenneth Walker (770 yards).
Gibbs and Walker have already had their bye weeks, so they hold higher per-game averages this season. At the same time, Robinson is overdue for one of his trademark performances.
As you can see below, Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving has rushed his way into the top five following a 170-yard performance against the Falcons in Week 8.
Irving is fourth with 728 rushing yards, while Buffalo Bills running back James Cook rounds out the top five with 707 rushing yards. Even though the NFL has become a passing league, this group is a good representation of the league's young talent at the running back position.
In terms of passing yards, Falcons fans might want to look away. Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love leads the NFL with 2,246 passing yards, followed by Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (2,146 passing yards) and Las Vegas Raiders QB Kirk Cousins.
Yes, former Falcons QB Kirk Cousins ranks third in the NFL with 2,124 passing yards. Cousins also ranks second in the league with 19 touchdown passes.
As you can see below, Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow is one spot behind Cousins with 2,115 passing yards. Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott rounds out the top five with 2,046 passing yards going into Week 9.
The Falcons will have a tough time stopping Burrow and the 5-2 Bengals this weekend in Madrid, Spain. Atlanta needs to bounce back after losing 16-0 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8.
Sunday's game kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET and will air nationally on the NFL Network.
