Texas A&M took care of business on Saturday, earning its second shutout win of the season by defeating The Citadel 41-0 behind an impressive rushing attack led by freshman running back KJ Edwards, who rushed for a career-high 116 yards, along with sophomore Jamarion Morrow's 54 yards and three touchdowns.
The Aggie defense didn't do anything spectacular, making the Bulldogs one-dimensional and forcing 47 run attempts that totaled 140 yards. Overall, nothing about this game, outside the run game, impressed the Aggie fan base, and starting quarterback Marcel Reed's above-average performance won't move the needle for most, including this writer.
Heading back into SEC play, Texas A&M will face Alabama and South Carolina on the road over the next three weeks, Tennessee at home, Oklahoma on the road, and Texas at home at the end of the regular season.
This weekend, SEC chaos unlike anything we've seen in years ensued, giving the Aggies a shot to pull off one or two upsets over the next five games, only if Marcel Reed, or possibly backup QB Brady Hart, play clean football and actually help the offense move the ball down the field, which is a big ask at this point of the season.
In the SEC, No. 1 Georgia lost to unranked Auburn 27-24 at home, the same score Texas posted in its loss to unranked Florida at home. Tennessee's 26-10 home win over Alabama was telling, as the Crimson Tide have lost back-to-back games and will now host Texas A&M next Saturday afternoon.
